It has been a busy fall so have not had much time to write, but now winter is here and I can concentrate on my internet work. I have completed a redesign for a local extended care facility whose concern was that they were unable to be found via searches on the major search engines. I started this project a couple months back though the client was unable to obtain the site information as the last person to design the site put all hosting information under his business name as apposed to the facilities name. Problem being that this company went out of business leaving the center with out access to their website.
I have found that this problem is not so uncommon as the last several sites I have done had the same problem. Finally they were able to track down this guy, by then though it was into my other businesses busy time so had to put off project until hunting season was over. Completed this project last week with final adjustments at the first of this week though the site is now live.

The initial project was simply updating the top banner and content, also had to change out the pictures, upon starting the project the customer informed me that she wanted this site to be easy for her to edit. With the old design done in a table format updates would not have easily been made and would have required some knowledge of website design.
My other problem was their budget was not flexible as in this economy money is tight so I did the conversion to a table less format at the initial cost as I needed to improve my skills anyway and this way I also provide this local business with a site that would easily be modified by themselves with out jeopardizing the design.
Of course I also provided basic optimization in the content to ensure much higher rankings, A website without basic optimization in my book is a waste of company money. As a businessman myself I understand the importance of having a website that brings business with out the company shelling out more advertising dollars to bring business to there website after all the website is suppose to bring in business and not cost the business.

Another part of building a business that people just do not understand is that a website needs incoming links to actually achieve decent rankings, Our company not only does website design and development but also we have high ranked websites that can provide the needed incoming links.
Here we are about 10 days in an Yahoo and MSN have already indexed and ranked this new site for her main keywords “Ohio Extended Care”, we are still waiting on GOOGLE to index their website though over the next week we should see good rankings there also, over the next few months we will see deeper indexing of the new website where they will achieve rankings on all of the keywords that they wanted.
