It has been a business spring completing two projects which were website remodels which entails giving the website a complete facelift , developing some new content, organic optimization and more. Let’s start with the first project which was PineLakesLodge.com, this website had not been touched since it was put up about 5 years ago and the property is a beautiful bed and breakfast resort located in Salesville, Ohio which is about 12 miles east of Cambridge, Ohio.
In development of the new site we wanted to give this website the look and feel of the property so first we chose the colors we wanted to use then we wanted to make sure that we use the latest in design techniques and had to create new content for several pages. At the end of the project we had developed a list of keywords that we wanted to go after and I began the task of the Organic SEO. The entire project took just under a month. Unfortunately since the website had not been touched in several years the site had become stale on the search engines and this created another problem.
Stale websites do not get indexed as frequently as regularly updated websites, let me correct myself on this they do get indexed but the results of that indexing do not show up on the results that we see when doing a search for quite awhile, this actually took almost another month and the new site was indexed almost every week. Now the results showed up on MSN and Yahoo within a couple weeks but unfortunately so few people use these search engines that hardly any extra business came from the rankings from these websites. Finally after a month from the completion of this project the results were posted on Google, for their main keywords they now rank at the top half of the second page and would have been on the first page except for the fact that when I first talked to Joe about a new site there was a mix of PR3 and PR4 websites on the first page, Joe’s business was a PR3 and I knew that I could optimize better than some of the ones already on the first page. Over the course of the two month from the start of the project to the first listings on Google they had updated PR ranking and now all of the websites on the first page were PR4 and PineLakesLodge.com is a PR3. PineLakesLodge.com is ranked at the top of PR3 websites but still not on the first page, now PineLakesLodge.com will have to see if they have enough incoming links to push them to a PR4 on Google’s next update.

Our next re-make was OhioFencing.com, we gave this website a complete overhaul adding new pictures, content and organic optimization. This project went fairly quick as the website is not that large so it took only a couple weeks to complete, the site has been up now for about a month and the result are outstanding. This website is only a PR2 ranked site but it was never a stale website and the content had been updated regularly they just do not have many incoming links but within a couple weeks the results were on Google and they were at the top of all related searches, just goes to show that content does indeed need to be updated on a regular basis though in all fairness the competition factor is much different also.
The new OhioFencing.com website has generated several small jobs and a few large jobs over the last month for the owner of this website.
